Cinderella Stories

One of my favorite past times is reading stories about artists, what work they are making, and how they are selling it. I love voyeuristic glances into other artists' studios, hearing about their inspirations, and what they give or sacrifice to achieve their dreams. I spend so much time studying other artist's paths because I am still trying to create my own.
My current jewelry work is constantly evolving and every time I take a workshop on a new technique, I realize I still have so much I can learn.

I am fresh back from a trip to Savannah, Georgia where I attended the amazing annual conference of SNAG, the organization that puts out Metalsmith magazine and so much more. It is a thrill for me to connect with all the other artists there and see the different directions that a metalsmith like myself can choose to go with one's career.

I was recently reading an article about Justin Giunta, (his fun chunky bracelet styles are featured above). He is an adorable designer who just scored by partnering his current collection with Target. His style is so irreverent and funky. It gives me hope to see a big company like Target featuring a young designer who has pieces with such a hand made feeling. Now if I could just figure out what I want to be when I grow up!
